Exciting news: Students to start painting mural for upcoming Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown!

The new Da Vinci Science Center in downtown Allentown is set to be a vibrant addition to the city’s cultural scene, thanks to the talents of an artist from Bethlehem and hundreds of students.

Local artist and Bethlehem Area School District art teacher Carla Majczan has been chosen to work with the students to create, design and paint a 120-foot long mural that will be installed on the wall of the new science center. The mural will be directly based on the children’s drawings and designs, which were created as part of Carla’s lesson plans for art and science at Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers.

Carla had students at the centers create art and designs based on her plans, resulting in boxes full of ideas that she sorted through to create the final mural design. About 300 students are involved in the project, which starts Thursday morning at Judith Chase Early Learning Center on Chew Street. They will meet in the gym to begin painting, with the mural set to be installed at the new science center in late May or early June.

The opening date for the Da Vinci Science Center is set for May 22, making it an exciting time for both residents and visitors to explore its many exhibits and interactive displays.
