Towson senior men’s swimmer Brian Benzing has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America second team for his outstanding performance in the classroom, in addition to his achievements in the pool. With a 3.76 GPA and majoring in sports marketing, Benzing demonstrates his dedication to both academics and athletics.
Throughout his swimming career at Towson, Benzing has been a standout performer. He was named the CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Year for the fourth consecutive season and received All-America honors at the NCAA Championship after finishing second in the 100 breast with a record-setting time of 50.59. In the 200 breast, he was an honorable mention All-American, setting a CAA record with a time of 1:52.71 in the prelims. Additionally, Benzing placed 23rd in the 200 IM at the NCAA’s, setting another CAA record with a time of 1:42.82.
At the CAA Championship, Benzing was named the Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet for the third time. He won the 100 breast for the fourth year in a row and set a meet record in the 200 IM. He was also part of Towson’s 800 free relay team that set a meet record in
