Ghanaian student Abubakar Tahiru set a new world record by hugging 1,123 trees in just one hour at the Tuskegee National Forest. At 29 years old and studying forestry at Auburn University, Tahiru has always been passionate about nature conservation. Growing up in a farming community in Tepa, Ghana, he developed an early interest in protecting the environment.
To break this record, Tahiru had to wrap his arms around each tree with both hands and maintain a rapid pace of averaging 19 trees per minute. Despite the physical exertion involved, Tahiru managed to complete the challenge while fasting for Ramadan. He saw this as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of trees and environmental conservation.
