Sha’Carri Richardson and Cardi B discuss upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics

The 2023 World 100m champion, Sha’Carri Richardson, recently met Grammy Award-winning rapper Cardi B in a video that premiered during NBC Sports’ coverage of the 150th Kentucky Derby on Saturday. In the spot, Richardson and Cardi B got their nails done together and discussed Richardson’s training regimen while sharing their love for Paris and excitement for the French capital hosting the Olympics, which open on July 26.

Richardson, 24, won the World 100m title in a personal-best time of 10.65 seconds, making her the favorite for the Paris Olympic 100m final on August 3. Only four women have ever run faster than 10.65 seconds. The last U.S. woman to win the Olympic 100m was Gail Devers in 1992 and 1996.

Before competing in the Paris Olympics, Richardson must first make it onto the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials team from June 21 to June 30 in Eugene, Oregon. The top three women in the 100m will qualify for individual event races in Paris, while likely the top six will compete for a spot on the women’s relay team for both events (4x100m and possibly even a potential mixed relay). Additionally, Richardson is also up for consideration as an individual contender in the women’s long jump and hurdles events at this year’s trials.

Before heading into competition season, Richardson has already set herself apart as a formidable force to be reckoned with on the track thanks to her impressive performance at last year’s Pre Classic meet held at Hayward Field in Eugene where she ran a personal-best time of 23:57 to finish third overall behind world record holder Florence Griffith Joyner and world silver medalist Tianna Bartoletti who both finished within two seconds of each other . This upcoming meet serves as an opportunity for her to further prove her dominance as one of America’s fastest female sprinters today
