Murphy of the Giants furiously throws gear after being injured in heavy rain

On Saturday night, the San Francisco Giants suffered yet another blow to their catching depth during a game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Veteran backup catcher Tom Murphy sustained an injury in the second inning of the game, adding to the team’s woes after Patrick Bailey was placed on the 7-day concussion injured list earlier that day.

Jakson Reetz, a minor league player with the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats, could potentially be called up by the Giants to fill in if Murphy’s injury turns out to be serious.

The Giants will need to make adjustments to their lineup in the wake of these injuries and hope for a swift recovery for both Murphy and Bailey. The team’s depth will be put to the test as they navigate
