Despite signs of a strong local economy, businesses in Narragansett, Rhode Island are still facing challenges in finding help in the hospitality industry. Joe Viele, the executive director of the Southern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, expressed optimism about the upcoming busy tourist season in Narragansett.
As the region prepares for the pre-summer tourist influx set to begin next month, many businesses have taken steps to improve their offerings. O’Reilly Auto Parts opened a store in Wakefield, Celeste completed renovations in Narragansett and Tower Hill Brewing Co. opened its doors in Wakefield. The brewery offers craft beers made on site in their taproom and allows patrons to bring their own food as they do not have a kitchen on site.
The South County Tourism Council is promoting spring specials at various businesses and restaurants on their website, www.southcountyri.com. With these new developments and promotions, Joe Viele believes that the upcoming tourist season will be a success despite the challenges faced by businesses in finding help in the hospitality industry.
