REPORT: American quartet smashes world record for distance medley relay in Eugene

Brandon Miller, Henry Wynne, Isaiah Harris, and Brannon Kidder teamed up to set a new world record of 9:14.58* in the distance medley relay at the Oregon Relays in Eugene, USA on Friday (19). The relay involves four legs of 1200m, 400m, 800m, and 1600m.

Kidder started off with a time of 2:49.60 for his 1200m leg, followed by Miller who ran 46.60 for his 400m leg. Harris then took over and completed the 800m leg with a time of 1:45.75 before passing the baton to Wynne for the final leg of the race. Wynne finished off strong with a time of 3:52.64, leaving no doubt that they had broken the previous world record of 9:15.50 set by USA’s Kyle Merber, Brycen Spratling, Brandon Johnson, and Ben Blankenship at the World Athletics Relays in Nassau in May last year.

Their impressive performance has set an exciting standard for future competitors at this year’s World Athletics Relays which will be held in Nassau from April 4th-5th. The team’s achievement will undergo a standard ratification process before being officially confirmed as a new world record.

Overall their hard work and dedication paid off and they proved that anything is possible with teamwork and determination.
