Vienna’s rental apartment market has seen a 26 percent increase in demand, according to the real estate platform Immoscout24. In the first quarter of 2024, rental apartments in Vienna were offered for an average price of 18.7 euros per square meter, which is 11 percent higher than the same period last year.
However, there are significant differences depending on the district. While rental apartments in Brigittenau, Ottakring, and Simmering only increased by up to 3 percent, rental apartments in Hietzing saw a price increase of around a quarter to 19.5 euros per square meter. The asking prices in other districts such as Josefstadt, Donaustadt, Margareten, and Penzing also increased by around a fifth compared to the same period last year.
The cheapest offers for rental apartments can be found in Rudolfsheim at 14.5 euros per square meter, followed by Ottakring and Hernals. However, some districts like Brigittenau and Ottakring are less popular among renters due to their lower asking prices. Meanwhile, Mariahilf and Floridsdorf have experienced demand increases of over 50 percent while Wieden and Neubau have seen less demand than before.
