On Monday, Venice and Riverview faced off in the boys lacrosse Class 2A-District 12 semifinals. The match ended with a score of 11-5 in favor of Venice. Aiden Sleigher led the way for Venice with an impressive performance, scoring 4 goals and providing 3 assists. John Ptaszek also contributed to Venice’s success, scoring 3 goals.
Venice’s Owen Alford had a goal and 3 assists, while Alex Denley added 2 goals and an assist to the team’s total. Alex Ptaszek made an outstanding effort in goal, making 14 saves to keep Riverview at bay. Riverview’s Carter Unkel scored 2 goals, while JC Fleming and Jack Yochim each had a goal and 2 assists. Sean Spergl also scored for Riverview, with Dominick Speranza making 12 saves in goal.
With the win, Venice improved to a record of 11-4, while Riverview fell to 5-10. The next matchup will see Venice face Gulf Coast for the Class 2A-District 12 title on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
