The Beacon Academy Science Olympiad team recently competed at the Illinois State competition held at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. This was the second year in a row that the team qualified to compete at this level. The competition featured 25 high school teams from across the state, all striving for top honors in a series of events that evaluated their understanding of science concepts, process skills and applications.
The Beacon Academy Trailblazers had an impressive weekend at the competition, excelling in their individual events as well as working together as a team. They placed highly in several events including Codebusters, Fermi Questions, Forensics, Geological Mapping, Microbe Mission, Robot Tour, Tower and Wind Power.
Overall, the Beacon Academy team finished fifth in Division A, demonstrating their exceptional performance across all 23 events. Throughout the season they displayed positive attitudes, outstanding teamwork and an ability to apply their scientific knowledge under pressure. Congratulations to the team on their outstanding Science Olympiad season.
