A robot dog with a flamethrower called Thermonator is now available for sale in the United States, according to a report on a digital site. Manufactured by Throwflame, the mechanical quadruped is the first of its kind and has been designed for various scenarios, including agricultural management and forest fire control.
Thermonator is powered by gasoline or napalm and has a one-hour battery life. It also features sensor for cartographic mapping, ARC ignition, laser aiming, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for remote control via a smartphone. Residents of the country can purchase this device online for less than $10,000, except those in Maryland and California.
The team behind Thermonator named it after a fictional film robot that was part of a robotic revolution. The device has plasma arc ignition to launch fire at distances of up to nine meters and is mounted on a robot dog likely Unitree Go2. This flamethrower was showcased in a recent video set to the song “Destroyer of Worlds Oppenheimer Remix” by Aaron Hibell.
Thermonator’s intended purposes include agricultural management, ecological conservation, forest fire control and prevention as well as snow and ice removal. Despite its intended uses, this device has generated a lot of interest and discussion online. Throwflame claims to be the oldest flamethrower manufacturer in the US and Thermonator is their fifth product.
