On April 26, from 5-7 p.m., the Whitefish Lake Institute will be hosting the Science Quencher event at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake. This engaging and informative event will feature local scientists discussing a wide range of topics such as fish, sheep, owls, and rivers. It is an opportunity to engage with experts in the field of natural resources and conservation.
The Science Quencher will feature presentations from several renowned speakers including Sam Bourret, a fisheries biologist with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks; Carol Treadwell, finance and grants manager for Whitefish Lake Institute and chief wool handler at Steitzhof Merinos; Denver Holt, founder and president of The Owl Research Institute; and Dakota Whitman, a fluvial geomorphologist with River Design Group. According to Durae Belcer, program coordinator at the Whitefish Lake Institute, the Science Quencher is a fun local gathering where attendees can learn something new from expert presenters. The presentations will be in a “lightning round” format, with each speaker given 10-15 minutes to present followed by a question and answer session. This interactive format allows attendees to engage with the experts in real-time and ask questions about their work.
The Science Quencher is not only an educational event but also an opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals who share a passion for environmental conservation and sustainability. Attendees can network with fellow environmentalists, learn about local conservation efforts, and discover new ways to get involved in protecting our natural resources. With its engaging presentations, interactive format, and opportunities for networking, the Science Quencher is sure to be a memorable experience for all who attend.
