On Wednesday night, the Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners approved a permit for an Uptown business to build a ramp that will assist customers with disabilities. The business, Top Deck Medical Aesthetics and Wellness on Granite Street, will be adding the ramp. After almost two hours of passionate public comment, the commissioners unanimously approved Jamie Decker’s request.
Over 20 community members spoke about the importance of the ramp for individuals with disabilities during the public comment period. Their emotional testimonies had a significant impact on the commissioners and influenced their decision to approve the permit for the ramp.
Jamie Decker had initially tried to secure approval for the ramp in June of last year but was repeatedly denied due to concerns about liability and encroachment onto a public right-of-way. However, after much persistence, her efforts finally paid off with the approval from the Council of Commissioners. The ramp will now be constructed to improve accessibility for customers with disabilities at Top Deck Medical Aesthetics and Wellness.
