The Commanders have added two new quarterbacks to their roster, with Sam Hartman being signed as an undrafted free agent and Jayden Daniels being drafted with the No. 2 overall pick. This move solidifies the team’s depth at the position and shows confidence in Hartman’s abilities, as he received a substantial guarantee of a $20,000 signing bonus and a $225,000 base salary guarantee.
Hartman, who is 24 years old, has experience leading a team from the quarterback position after starting 57 games during his collegiate career at Wake Forest and Notre Dame. Alongside him on the roster are Marcus Mariota, Jeff Driskel, and Jake Fromm, who will serve as Daniels’ backup and compete for the No. 3 spot. It is expected that Daniels will start for the Commanders in his first season with the team.
