The Chargers have been busy in the past few days, as they have drafted two players from head coach Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan team and signed another as an undrafted free agent. One of the recent signings is offensive lineman Karsen Barnhart, who has agreed to terms with the team. During his time at Michigan, Barnhart started in 30 games playing both guard and tackle positions.
The Chargers have also added quarterback Casey Bauman to their depth chart. Bauman had an impressive season at Augustana where he threw for 2,878 yards and 29 touchdowns. In addition to the Michigan players and Bauman, the Chargers have secured deals with several other undrafted free agents including Luke Benson from Georgia Tech, Akeem Dent from Florida State, Jaelen Gill from Fresno State, and Thomas Harper from Notre Dame, among others.
This influx of new talent will surely add depth and competition to the Chargers’ roster as they prepare for the upcoming season. The addition of Bauman will provide a boost to the team’s quarterback position while Barnhart will help solidify the offensive line. The signing of Johnson will also give the team a valuable wide receiver option. With these new additions, the Chargers are well-positioned to continue their success in 2021.
