In the consolation game of the National Christian School basketball tournament, Chautauqua Christian Academy’s Defenders came back from a five-point deficit in the final minute of regulation to secure a 67-60 victory over Faith Christian of West Virginia. The team’s impressive showing saw them finish third in Division 5 after a loss to the eventual champions in the quarterfinals.
The Defenders’ resilience was on full display as they mounted a comeback, with Marcus Ryan and Sawyer Lynn scoring crucial baskets to force overtime. It was Lynn who made the clutch go-ahead 3-pointer in the final minute, leading the Defenders to victory. Lynn’s 19 points, including three 3-pointers, played a key role in the win.
Junior Marcus Ryan stood out with an impressive 34-point performance, while Hunter Edwards contributed 10 rebounds and Kayden Peterson excelled on defense throughout the season. Both Ryan and Lynn earned spots on the All-Tournament team for their standout performances.
