Kansas devises plan to persuade Chiefs to move out of Missouri

Kansas City Chiefs’ Possible Move May Not Be Far After All

There have been rumors circulating that the Kansas City Chiefs may be considering a move, but it appears that they may not be moving too far after all. Reports from the Topeka Capital-Journal and Sports Business Daily suggest that Kansas legislators are working on a proposal to entice the Chiefs to relocate across state lines. However, Missouri’s recent failed vote to extend a sales tax to fund stadium renovations has left the door open for Kansas to step in and offer financial incentives without the need for a ballot measure.

The plan is to secure a minimum of $1 billion to build a new stadium and practice facility for the team. If Kansas can successfully lure the team, it would create a competitive situation where neighboring communities would vie for their presence. This approach could avoid the need for a costly relocation scenario that would involve changing the team name from “Kansas City Chiefs” to something like “San Antonio Chiefs” or “Austin Chiefs” or other locations. Ultimately, the goal is to keep the Chiefs in the region and secure their long-term presence in a new facility.
