A man was caught on camera smashing gaming machines at a café in Hialeah and fleeing with cash. Otniel Rodriguez, 40, faces charges of burglary, grand theft, and criminal mischief in connection with the incident. The owners of the Rainbow Café expressed appreciation for the swift response and arrest made by the Hialeah police department.
On February 29th, Rodriguez was also accused of a similar offense at a Hialeah gas station. This is not the first time Rodriguez has been involved in crimes related to gaming machines. The destruction of three gaming machines and theft of $7,000 in cash during the incident is a reminder of the importance of law enforcement in maintaining public safety and protecting businesses in the community.
No information on Rodriguez’s attorney was available at the time he appeared before a Miami-Dade bond court judge on Wednesday, where he remained in custody. The arrest of Rodriguez serves as a warning to businesses to be vigilant when it comes to security and monitoring of premises to prevent such incidents from occurring again.
