A video has been released showing the heroic efforts of police officers who rushed into a dog kennel filled with heavy smoke to rescue 46 dogs in Fairfield. The incident occurred at a business complex on Bloomfield Avenue near Route 46 on a Saturday night. Despite not having any fire safety equipment, the brave officers bravely entered the Pio Costa Industrial Complex to save the animals.
The video shows the officers breaking through a security door and quickly searching for and rescuing the dogs, all while dealing with heavy smoke. The fire that caused the smoke started in a nearby convenience and smoke shop before spreading to other businesses in the area, including the kennel.
Unfortunately, one police officer had to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation due to the rescue operation. However, all 46 dogs were successfully rescued and taken to a different facility where they were checked out by a veterinarian. The quick and brave actions of the police officers ensured that all the animals were safe and out of harm’s way.
