Grocer to Carry Virginia Tech Graduate’s Sauce

Tahjere Lewis, a Virginia Tech graduate, will see his commercially available product, Aunt Carol’s Sauce, carried by Food Lion stores in Hampton Roads starting next month. The company is the largest retailer to agree to carry the item so far. Lewis is 24 and lives in Hampton Roads.

On the other hand, winemakers in the region are also preparing for spring by reopening at least two seasonal tasting rooms at area wineries. AmRhein’s Wine Cellars in Bent Mountain announced its tasting room will open for the season on April 6. Meanwhile, Villa Appalaccia Winery just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Patrick County “surpassed expectations” at the opening of its tasting room on March 15, co-owner Julie Block said. “People are just itching to get back out.”

In wine news, Stanburn Winery in Stuart has announced that it will close after the upcoming season.
