Fortissimo Films, a leading distributor based in China and the Netherlands, has announced that they will be handling the international rights to Momo Pictures’ new Chinese sports film “Wild Punch.” The film will be premiered at the Cannes Market next week.
Directed by Yu Lik-wai and Wang Jing, “Wild Punch” is a gripping sports and action drama that follows the story of a mixed martial arts athlete who is past his prime and competing against his young and talented trainee. The two must face off against each other in the ring to prove themselves.
Yu Lik-wai, one of the directors of the film, is a renowned filmmaker who has worked on several feature films including titles like “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and “Plastic City.” He is also known for his work as a cinematographer on films by distinguished directors such as Jia Zhangke, Lou Ye, and Ann Hui.
Produced by Momo Pictures, a subsidiary of NASDAQ-listed Zhiwen Group, “Wild Punch” marks their latest addition to their portfolio of films. The company has previously produced successful films like “The Best Is Yet to Come,” “A Long Shot,” and “The Boy Who Counted Cars.” This collaboration between Momo Pictures and Fortissimo Films represents their first venture together.
