ECU Health recently hosted a New Graduate Nurse Hiring event, as part of its commitment to building a high-quality nursing workforce for the region. The event took place at TowneBank Tower on East Carolina University’s campus in February and included 276 interviews with prospective nurses, many of whom are from eastern North Carolina. This allowed candidates to explore different units and connect with nursing leaders within the organization. In total, 96 future nurses accepted positions across the ECU Health system, demonstrating the organization’s dedication to recruiting and retaining exceptional nurses to shape the future of rural healthcare.
The event spanned two days, with Friday focused on networking and Saturday dedicated to interviews. Trish Baise, Chief Nursing Executive at ECU Health, expressed her satisfaction with the event, noting the importance of engaging with future nurses in a casual setting before formal interviews. She emphasized the significance of new graduate nurses in the organization’s workforce pipeline and the goal of providing them with a positive clinical experience, especially for those who grew up or were educated in the region. Dr. Kamilah Williams, administrator for Professional Practice Development & Clinical Education at ECU Health, highlighted the numerous opportunities available for new nurses at the organization, across a variety of nursing specialties.
