Darwin Millard, the Vice-subcommittee Chair at ASTM International, will be leading two upcoming Subcommittee meetings during the Cannabis Science Conference. These meetings will take place as part of the pre-conference workshops and will provide attendees with a glimpse into the “Initiative on Equipment & Facility Cleaning” and “Joint ASTM Subcommittee Initiative on Vape Device Safety & Testing.”
ASTM International is a global standards development organization that aims to create consensus standards for various industries, including cannabis. The D37 Committee on Cannabis was established to ensure the safety and quality of cannabis products by developing testing methods, cultivation guidelines, and laboratory practices. Stakeholders in the cannabis industry who have an interest in these areas are encouraged to attend the meetings and contribute their insights.
On May 7th, 2024, there will be four ASTM meetings taking place, including the ASTM Subcommittee D37.93 on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Meeting led by Scheril Murray Powell, Esq., the ASTM Subcommittee D37.04 Initiative on Equipment & Facility Cleaning guided by Darwin Millard, the Joint ASTM Subcommittee Initiative on Vape Device Safety & Testing also led by Darwin Millard, and the ASTM Task Group developing a Standard Guide for Cannabis/Hemp Laboratory Out-of-Specifications (OOS) and Retesting led by Jini Glaros, Chief Scientific Officer at Modern Canna Laboratories.
