In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, May 6-10, Teachers Federal Credit Union is proud to host its 4th Annual Teacher Appreciation Week Contest. Ms. Hernandez, a sixth-grade general education and ENL science teacher at William Floyd Middle School, has been selected as one of the top six middle school level finalists out of 1,500 candidates. If she wins, she will receive a grant up to $2,500 for her classroom to build an interactive vertical garden using coding and technology!
Ms. Hernandez embodies the highest standards of teaching excellence and leadership in the state. She serves as the driving force behind the school’s Science Fiction Club, providing students with not only an outlet for their love of the genre but also fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a sense of community among its members. Additionally, Ms. Hernandez actively engages in professional development opportunities, constantly seeking ways to enhance her teaching methods, stay updated on educational trends, and collaborate with fellow educators to refine her craft.
Voting ends at Friday night, April 26. Winners will be announced on Monday, May 6, the beginning of Teacher Appreciation Week! Ms. Hernandez has one chance left to win this grant that will be a valuable addition to her classroom resources that can help make learning more engaging for her students.
