This week, the nominees for Courier Journal boys athlete of the week have showcased their talent on the baseball diamonds or lacrosse fields. Sekayi Charasika from Kentucky Country Day and Ryan Eubanks from Eastern are among those nominated. In baseball, Eubanks had a standout week with five hits, five RBIs, and two walks in games against Southern, Christian Academy, and Bullitt Central. Meanwhile, Charasika made the list with five goals and two assists in a 19-17 win over Eastern in lacrosse.
In addition to these impressive performances, DeSales junior Cole Thompson struck out 13 batters in a 10-0 win over Christian Educational Consortium and also contributed three hits, one RBI, a stolen base, and a walk against Christian Educational Consortium and Male. Lastly, Ballard’s junior Cooper Risinger scored 11 goals and provided four assists in matches against Frederick Douglass and Atherton in lacrosse.
