On Friday, Stephens College faced off against Columbia College in a doubleheader. Following a recent loss to Williams Baptist University, the Cougars were looking to bounce back. In the first game, Gottman’s single in the second inning resulted in two RBIs and put Columbia ahead 2-0. The Cougars picked up steam in the sixth inning, scoring two more runs off of Bruno’s hit to right field. They eventually secured a 4-0 victory in the first game.
However, the momentum shifted in the second game as Stephens College dominated the third inning and took a 2-0 lead. Kendrick’s hit drove in two runs and they continued to build on their lead with three more singles by the sixth inning. The Cougars made a valiant effort to come back with Gottman’s timely single resulting in 2 RBIs, but they fell short of a sweep as Stephens emerged victorious with a final score of 6-4.
