Costco is set to open a new and improved warehouse in Fresno, California. The new location will replace the existing warehouse on West Shaw Avenue and will be located on North Riverside Drive and West Herndon Avenue. Construction of the new retail emporium was approved by the city council, with developers scaling down the size of the warehouse after community concerns. Despite this, the new Costco in Fresno will still be approximately 50% bigger than the average U.S. Costco store, at 146,000 square feet.
The existing Costco location on West Shaw Avenue has been open since 1985 but growth and changing times necessitated a larger and modernized warehouse. The new Fresno location aims to offer Costco members a better shopping experience with improved facilities and services. With construction set to begin in the fall and be completed by the end of 2025, local residents and Costco fans are eagerly awaiting the completion of the new and improved warehouse in Fresno.
The new retail emporium will feature a 219,000-square-foot building, a 32-pump gas station, a car wash, and a dedicated food delivery service. Despite being originally planned to be over 240,000 square feet, developers had to scale down due to community concerns. However, despite this setback, the new warehouse will still be significantly larger than most other warehouses in California, making it one of the largest in the world.
With construction about to begin on this ambitious project, many people are excited for what’s ahead for Costco’s expansion into Fresno’s retail landscape. Once completed
