In a major milestone for the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents, a 30-year lease has been approved for Mayo Clinic Health System to occupy integrated research workspace in the new Science and Health Sciences Building at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. This partnership is expected to enhance research and educational opportunities for students and faculty.
Mayo Clinic Health System has committed $13.7 million to the project and will occupy 10,000 square feet of research, instructional, office, and meeting space within the building. Construction on the state-of-the-art Science and Health Sciences Building is set to begin this summer. The 330,000-square-foot building will replace the outdated Phillips Hall and provide space for multiple academic programs including biology, chemistry and biochemistry, computer science, geography and anthropology, geology and environmental science, public health and environmental studies, neuroscience, materials science and biomedical engineering, physics and astronomy, and nursing.
The collaboration between Mayo Clinic Health System and UW-Eau Claire in the new research workspace is expected to bring together experts from both institutions to work on cutting-edge projects that will advance scientific knowledge in various fields. With Mayo Clinic Health System on board as a partner in this project, UW-Eau Claire students will have access to world-class resources that will enhance their learning experiences.
This partnership signifies a significant investment in the future of healthcare and research at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. It demonstrates a commitment by both institutions to advancing scientific knowledge through collaborative efforts that will benefit students in the region.
