Canada comes from behind to defeat USA in thrilling gold medal match at U18 world hockey championship

In the under-18 men’s world hockey championship, Canada secured their fifth title with a 6-4 victory over the United States. Gavin McKenna led the charge with a hat trick and assist, while Cole Beaudoin and Tij Iginla also contributed goals in the third period. Ryder Ritchie added another goal to help overcome an early 3-1 deficit. Goalie Carter George made 31 saves to secure the win for Canada.

In the bronze medal match, Sweden shut out Slovakia 4-0 with Love Harenstam stopping all 36 shots he faced. Lucas Pettersson broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the third period, followed by goals from Melvin Fernstrom, Alfons Freij, and Victor Eklund. Alan Lendak made 25 saves in net for Slovakia.

The excitement of competition was palpable at the under-18 men’s world hockey championship as Canada took home gold and Sweden earned bronze.
