Good Girl Brewing Co. is set to open its doors in Aiken on May 7. The brewery, which will be located at 880 Banks Mill Road S.E., will offer craft beer brewed on-site as well as a menu of food options. The establishment, which was previously home to Found Treasures, an antiques and collectibles store that closed in 2020, has undergone renovations and is now owned by Andrew and Rachael Phifer, along with friends Paul and Morgan Batton and Rachael’s parents.
Phifer Brewing LLC acquired the 1.26-acre property for the brewery next to Citizens Park for $259,000 in January 2021. However, the owners have faced various challenges and expenses in getting the business up and running, including zoning permits, material costs, loan approvals, and construction delays. Despite these obstacles, they have prioritized doing things right and to the best of their abilities, resulting in a project they can be proud of.
In other news, Powderhouse Apartments in Aiken has been sold to Maki Developments LLC for $2.3 million. The transaction was completed on March 19, with Maki Developments taking over ownership of the multifamily residential complex located at 3037 Old Powderhouse Road. The property changed hands earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Dollar General Store at 132 Rudy Mason Parkway in Aiken has recently introduced a selection of produce for sale. The store’s remodeling allowed for the addition of fresh fruits and vegetables to its offerings.
