El Paso’s Bowl Game Conference Boosts Borderland Economy with Thousands of Visitors

The annual bowl season meetings have come to a close in El Paso, Texas. This year, the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl hosted the meetings for the first time ever, bringing hundreds of people to the borderland and infusing tens of thousands of dollars into the local economy. Major bowls such as the Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and Sugar Bowl gathered in El Paso for the three-day convention.

In addition to these major bowls, representatives from all 43 bowl games attended the meetings in El Paso. Events took place at the El Paso Convention Center and the Paso Del Norte Hotel. The Arizona Bowl in Tucson, another bowl game in the region, hosted New Mexico State football team and strives to include borderland teams in their games. Kym Adair, the executive director of the AZ Bowl, highlighted the convenience of being just a four-hour drive away from the borderland.

Bernie Olivas, executive director of Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl expressed his excitement about hosting this major event in El Paso for first time. He emphasized its significance as it has been previously held in Los Angeles, Nashville, Orlando Houston and San Antonio . He also mentioned that it is a big event for city and will have positive impact on el paso economy which will be discussed on Sunday XTRA hosted by Mark Ross airing on Sunday nights at 10:35 p.m on ABC-7
