Keanu Dillard, a sophomore at Bethlehem Catholic, has been selected to represent the United States of America on the U.S. Under-17 Freestyle wrestling team. He will be competing in the upcoming U-17 world championships, which are set to take place in Amman, Jordan from August 19th to August 25th.
Dillard’s impressive performance at the U17 world team trials during the U.S. Open event in Las Vegas earned him a spot on the team. In the final match, he defeated Slater Hicks of Valencia, Calif., with a score of two bouts to zero in the best-of-three final. Dillard did not allow any points and won both bouts with scores of 6-0 and 4-0 against his opponent. His overall record for his sophomore year was an impressive 41-5.
Dillard’s dedication to the sport of wrestling has paid off as he will now have the opportunity to represent his country on an international stage. We wish him all the best as he competes against some of the world’s best wrestlers in Amman, Jordan and we congratulate him on this amazing achievement!
