The College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) recently held its annual Science and Technology Week, a week-long celebration of advancements in the field of science and technology. The event honored students and professionals who contribute to these advancements.
The week kicked off with a keynote address from Dr. Nita A. Farahany, a respected scholar in the ethics of emerging technologies and author of the book The Battle for Your Brain: Defending Your Right to Think Freely in the Age of Neurotechnology. Farahany’s address focused on neurotechnology impacts, cognitive privacy laws, and the future of cognitive freedom.
On the second day, CAST Connections hosted the CONNECT Event, which provided a platform for students to network with recent alumni. The focus was on effective networking, conflict resolution, proper communication, and leadership skills. This event was well received by students as it allowed them to connect with alumni who have already achieved success in their respective fields.
At the end of Science and Technology Week, CAST celebrated its alumni with an induction into the Academy of Achievement. The Academy recognizes alumni who are considered “thought leaders” in their respective fields, serving as an inspiration to others with similar career paths. This recognition was a great way for CAST to showcase its graduates’ achievements and encourage current students to continue working hard towards their goals.
The events during Science and Technology Week were successful due to the participation of students, alumni, faculty, and professionals from various fields. CAST expressed gratitude to all who attended and contributed to the success of the week. It is clear that science and technology are rapidly changing our world, but with events like Science and Technology Week at CAST, we can come together as a community
