The Miami Dolphins had a successful draft haul, starting off strong by selecting potential 10-sack edge rusher Chop Robinson in the first round. In the second round, they selected offensive tackle Patrick Paul, who has the potential to become a consistent NFL tackle. While their trade-up for Jaylen Wright in the fourth round was perplexing, overall they acquired a good group of players.
My favorite pick from the Dolphins’ draft was Patrick Paul, a talented offensive tackle from Houston. Standing at 6-7 and 330 pounds, Paul has exceptional athleticism and is just beginning to showcase his true potential. With his raw talent, he has the ability to become a consistent NFL tackle and is expected to make impressive plays in head coach Mike McDaniel’s offense. This prospect-to-team match seems destined for success.
On the other hand, my least favorite pick was Jaylen Wright, the running back from Tennessee taken in the fourth round. While speed is a priority for Coach McDaniel, Wright may not be the ideal replacement for De’Von Achane when Raheem Mostert eventually moves on. Wright struggles with vision and running between the tackles, so McDaniel may need to see that not all fast running backs are equal.
The Dolphins’ draft picks included wide receivers Malik Washington and Tahj Washington in rounds six and seven respectively. These two receivers generated buzz in college and have the potential to compete for playing time behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Overall, I believe that this was a solid draft haul for Miami and they have acquired a good group of players that will contribute to their team’s success in the future seasons.
