Waha Oil Company (WOC) has awarded Zulal Water Technology (ZWT) an Engineering, Procurement, Installation & Commissioning (EPIC) contract to construct a drinking water treatment plant at Dahra Oil Field in Libya. The plant will have a design capacity of 900m³/day and an operational capacity of 600m³/day.
The water at Dahra Field is particularly challenging to treat due to its high salinity levels (TDS > 21000ppm), comparable to sea water, as well as high levels of H2S and iron. This makes the project highly specialized and requires significant technical expertise.
ZWT underwent a competitive procurement process and detailed technical evaluation by Waha before being awarded the contract. The project will be completed on a full turnkey basis, including pre-treatment, H2S degassing, iron and colloids removal, RO desalination, post-treatment, and the supply of dosing chemicals.
The new plant will be in line with five previous RO water plants manufactured by Lenntech and completed by ZWT at various WOC sites. Iftikhar ul Haq, Director of ZWT, emphasized the difficulty of designing a suitable plant for the unique challenges of Dahra well-water but expressed confidence in their team’s ability to provide an optimal solution.
ZWT’s 35+ years of experience in completing over 100 water treatment projects in Libya showcases their expertise in the field.
