The National Science Bowl Championship in Washington brought together students from Kelly Walsh High School and CY Middle School, representing Wyoming. The event marked the fifth consecutive year that Kelly Walsh High School won first place as the Wyoming Regional High School Science Bowl champion in 2024. Throughout the year, the KW Science Club holds mock science bowls to prepare for competitions. The Natrona County school district mentioned that part of the fun is learning how to quickly respond to questions and using strategic critical thinking skills to avoid making mistakes on the spot.
CY Middle School students are part of the school’s STEM Club, which explores advanced scientific knowledge and competes in the Science Olympiad competitions each year. From January to March, 115 regional high school and middle school teams competed for a chance to attend the National Finals. The top 67 high schools and top 48 middle school teams from across the nation gathered to compete in academic competitions, culminating in the announcement of the new National Champions. Unfortunately, Casper’s teams were eliminated before the finals.
