At the Xiamen Diamond League meeting, Sweden’s Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis broke his own world record in pole vault. The 24-year-old athlete, who holds multiple titles including Olympic, two-time world, and European champion, cleared an impressive 6.24 meters on his first attempt at Egret Stadium. This was a remarkable feat as it surpassed his previous record by just 1cm which he set in Eugene last year.
Duplantis began the competition with a clearance of 5.62m before smoothly sailing over heights of 5.82m and 6.00m. His outstanding performance resulted in him setting a new world record, marking his eighth achievement in this discipline. Despite his impressive feat, American Sam Hendricks finished second with a best jump of 5.82m while China’s Bokai Huang came in third with a leap of 5.72m.
The thrilling start to the outdoor season for Duplantis has cemented his status as one of the top athletes in pole vault event, leaving many impressed by his skill and determination to excel in this field.
