After five years of providing low-cost medical care to patients, Walmart has announced the closure of its 51 health centers in five states and its telehealth business. The retailer stated that there is not a sustainable business model for them to continue operating the health centers, impacting patients, associates, providers, and communities.
Since the introduction of these health centers in 2019, Walmart has opened 51 clinics in five states across the U.S. These clinics were located next to Walmart Supercenters and offered a variety of services including medical, dental, and behavioral health care. Specific details regarding the closure dates of each center have not been decided upon yet.
In Texas, Walmart has eight health centers in various locations such as Fort Worth, Garland, Palestine, Pearland, Royse City, Sugar Land, Tomball, and Tyler. More information about these health centers can be found on Walmart’s website. As decisions about the closure dates are made, the retailer intends to share further details with the public.
