Vandals Cause $100,000 in Damages at Patriot Park, Prompting Police Reward for Information Leading to Arrest

Sumter police are investigating more than $100,000 in damages to sports complex

A vandalism incident occurred at Patriot Park, causing more than $100,000 in damages. The Sumter Police Department is actively trying to identify the individual(s) responsible for the crime. Equipment, electronics, heating and air conditioning units, computers, camera/security systems, concession stand, supplies, and restrooms were all affected by the vandalism.

Officials at Sumter County Government expressed disappointment in the destruction of the facilities at Patriot Park. They vowed to repair and clean up the damage and expressed support for law enforcement’s efforts to find those responsible for the vandalism. The damage included graffiti made with black paint that was taken from the park’s storage area.

The Sumter Police Department is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any information that leads to an arrest in this case. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact them at 803-436-2700 or submit tips via their website at P3tips.com or using the P3tips app.
