On Thursday morning, a fire broke out in a strip mall in Carmel, resulting in one person dead and another injured. The Carmel Fire Department was alerted to the blaze at 3:30 a.m. and responded quickly to the scene located in the 9800 block of N. Michigan Road.
Unfortunately, when firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a man dead inside the building. Another person was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with fire-related injuries. As a result of the fire, Michigan Road near 96th Street was closed in both directions for safety reasons. Griffin urged people to avoid driving through that area until further notice.
