Tokyo Haneda Airport Ranked World’s Cleanest Airport for 2021

The world’s cleanest airport has been named, and it’s none other than Tokyo Haneda Airport. According to the Skytrax World Airport Awards, the airport was recognized for its cleanliness in various areas, including floors, seating, public areas and restrooms. This comes at a time when airport cleanliness has become a top priority for travelers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Haneda wasn’t just named the cleanest airport in the world, but also ranked fourth best overall by Skytrax. In fact, Japan had four airports on the list – Centrair Nagoya, Tokyo Narita and Kansai – with Seoul Incheon and Singapore Changi completing the top five. Nine of the top 10 cleanest airports were in Asia.

Skytrax also recognized the top cleanest airport in each region, with Vancouver in North America leading the way. Quito in South America came in second place while Juan Santamaría in Central America and Caribbean took third spot. Cape Town in Africa followed closely behind while Brisbane in Australia/Pacific rounded out the top five.

The overall winners also topped their respective regional categories: Tokyo Haneda won in Asia, Zurich won in Europe and Doha Hamad won in Middle East. These accolades are a testament to how important it is for airports to maintain high standards of cleanliness given their large passenger numbers every year. Skytrax World Airport Awards have been recognizing excellence in airports for 25 years based on customer satisfaction surveys from travelers worldwide.
