In a bid to combat misinformation and promote transparency on its platform, TikTok has announced that it will automatically label content created by artificial intelligence when it is uploaded from specific platforms. The popular social media platform aims to make users aware of the fact that certain content has been generated using AI technology.
TikTok’s Head of Operations & Trust and Safety, Adam Presser, revealed the decision during an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America”. Presser emphasized the importance of allowing users to distinguish between fact and fiction while also acknowledging the potential for AI to enhance creativity and audience engagement.
Prior to this policy change, TikTok encouraged users to voluntarily label content created or edited using AI. However, with the new automatic labeling requirement, any content that includes realistic images, audio or video generated by AI technology will now be labeled as such. This move reflects TikTok’s commitment to responsible content sharing on its platform.
