In 2015, female CEOs were outnumbered by Juha in listed companies on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. However, a recent calculation by responsibility consultant Kaisa Hernberg shows that this trend has shifted, with more women now serving as CEOs of listed companies than Juha. According to Hernberg’s calculation, there are currently ten female managing directors of listed companies in Helsinki, while Juha’s presence has decreased to only five. Additionally, there are also five male managing directors named Mikko, four named Mikko, and three each of Arto, Eso, Miko, Petr, Peko, and Timo.
The diversity at the Helsinki Stock Exchange has shown significant growth over the years. Currently, the share of women as CEOs of listed companies is slightly over seven percent. This improvement is evident despite the fact that women still outnumber Juha in numbers. The inspiration for Hernberg’s calculation came from a similar calculation made by the Union of Women’s Affairs in 2015 which highlighted the lack of female representation in CEO positions at listed companies. Since then, there has been a steady increase in the number of female CEOs although last year saw a slight decrease in their presence. According to the Central Chamber of Commerce, nine percent of CEOs at listed companies were women with twelve companies being led by female CEOs last year.
These statistics underscore the importance of making informed decisions when selecting leaders in the corporate world to ensure greater inclusivity and diversity representation at the top levels.
