The latest class of Star Tribune Minnesota Sports Hall of Famers, fondly known as the “hoops and hockey class”, was honored at the Wild game on April 6. The Xcel Energy Center crowd erupted in cheers for hockey legends Gigi Marvin and Neal Broten, as well as basketball icons Larry McKenzie and Willie Burton.
Among those present at the game were Jade Hill, who accepted the Hall of Fame trophy on behalf of her sister Tayler, a record-setting basketball player from Minneapolis South, and Gaabi Boucha, grandson of the late Henry Boucha, a Warroad legend. Unfortunately, Class of 2023 inductees Cheryl Reeve and Phil Housley were unable to attend due to Reeve’s duties at the women’s Final Four and Housley’s role as an assistant coach with the New York Rangers. Reeve will be recognized at a Minnesota Lynx game this season at Target Center.
