The HealthTech|X Accelerator, a non-profit program that supports high-potential healthtech startups in Tampa and beyond, has announced the opening of its application portal. With the support of a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), this program is set to officially launch on July 22, 2024.
Linda Olson, CEO of Tampa Bay Wave, expressed her excitement about the opportunity to help foster innovation and support promising healthtech startups through this program. The HealthTech|X Accelerator offers a 90-day immersive experience with one-on-one mentoring, pitch coaching, and investment readiness training, all without requiring equity from participants.
The program has sponsors including The Florida High Tech Corridor and USF Research & Innovation, as well as Foley & Lardner and Levo Health. Partners for the program include the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council (EDC) and the USF Health Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS).
The HealthTech|X Accelerator aligns with the broader vision of the Tampa Medical and Research District, which aims to build an inclusive ecosystem to attract talent and innovation in clinical care, academics, research, biotechnology, job creation and a healthier prosperous region. This district is anchored by Tampa General Hospital and the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine.
