As the new AEW world champion, Swerve Strickland made a triumphant return to the ring during the latest episode of Collision. The live audience at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida greeted him with open arms, showering him with a chant of “Thank you, Swerve!”
In his first interview as the world champion, Swerve discussed AEW’s recent events, including Jack Perry’s surprise return and The Elite’s attack on Tony Khan. He called the move by The Elite a “bitch move.”
During the show, Swerve issued an open challenge for a world title match, which was accepted by Claudio Castagnoli. The two superstars put on an incredible match that left fans on the edge of their seats. In the end, it was Swerve who emerged victorious after hitting the House Call to retain his title.
Following the match, it was announced that on the upcoming episode of Dynamite on May 1st, we would find out who Swerve would be defending his title against at May’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view. It remains to be seen whether Swerve’s comments about The Elite will have immediate consequences or if they are setting the stage for future storylines.
