Sugar Factory, a popular New York City-based restaurant known for its sweet treats and adult beverages, has found itself in hot water with its landlord at Circle Centre Mall in Indianapolis. According to court filings in Marion County Superior Court 3, Sugar Factory’s subsidiary, SF Indianapolis 88 LLC, has been in default of its lease since January 2023.
The landlord of the mall, Circle Centre Mall, LLC., has taken legal action to evict the restaurant from its location due to the unpaid rent. A complaint was filed by the mall in March stating that Sugar Factory owes over $333,000 in back rent.
In an effort to resolve the issue, a letter was sent to Sugar Factory from Circle Centre Mall, LLC., outlining the amount owed and requesting payment. However, it seems that the restaurant has not responded or made any attempts to settle the debt.
As a result of this failure to pay rent and other obligations, an eviction hearing for Sugar Factory has been scheduled for May 1. It is clear that the landlord is taking action to resolve the issue and remove Sugar Factory from the premises if necessary.
