Jasmine Shavers and Bailey Maupin, two exceptional women’s basketball players at Texas Tech, have recently earned academic honors to go along with their outstanding performances on the court. Both athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for the first time in their careers. Additionally, they were selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists and will move on to the national ballot for voting by CSC members.
Maupin and Shavers both had impressive seasons, leading the Lady Raiders in scoring and receiving numerous accolades. Maupin started every game and averaged 31.6 minutes per game, while also leading Texas Tech in scoring with 27 double-figure games and 102 assists. She scored an average of 14.1 points per game and made 127 free throws with an 85.8 percent shooting percentage.
Maupin had a breakout season, recording four games of 20-plus points and achieving her first career double-double against Sam Houston. She led the team in scoring 12 times and assists 19 times throughout the season. During Big 12 play, Maupin averaged an impressive 13.3 points per game and 2.6 assists per game in all 18 contests.
On the other hand, Shavers also had a standout year, leading the Lady Raiders in scoring with an average of 15.4 points per game. She achieved eight games of 20-plus points and had a total of 26 double-figure games throughout the season.
