The Southeast Community College will be hosting a Family Science Night in celebration of Earth Day on Monday, April 22. The event will take place at the Career Academy Synergy Space on the Lincoln Campus, located at 8800 O St. The event will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Organized and run by SCC science faculty, STEM Club, STEAM Team, and other volunteers from the campus, Family Science Night is geared towards elementary aged children and will feature a range of hands-on science activities for them to enjoy. Some of the activities planned for the evening include a geology table with bug fossils, a penny water surface tension experiment, making Earth Day bird feeders, exploring the science of popcorn, and engaging in nanoscience activities. In addition to the interactive science activities, there will also be free pizza and prizes available for attendees.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase from the Sweet Treats Food Truck and Traveling Tom’s Coffee Truck during the event. It’s advised to act quickly as there are only 100 tickets available for the event.
