Purdue University’s Teaching Academy has recently inducted six new members for 2024. These inductees have been recognized for their outstanding and scholarly teaching in graduate, undergraduate, or engagement programs. Two of the inductees come from Purdue Polytechnic’s School of Engineering Technology, including Brittany Newell and Matthew Turner.
The Teaching Academy fellows represent a variety of disciplines, including Engineering Technology, Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, and Libraries and School of Information Studies. Candidates were nominated based on evidence of excellence in teaching, innovation in teaching methodology, teaching-related service, and scholarship in teaching and learning.
Matthew Turner expressed his gratitude for being inducted, stating that he is “very honored” to be recognized. He thanked the Teaching Academy members for their leadership in promoting teaching excellence at Purdue University. He also acknowledged the administration, faculty, and staff of Purdue Polytechnic for creating an environment that fosters and supports world-class classroom teaching.
The Teaching Academy’s goal is to bring together the best teaching faculty and graduate students across the campus to promote teaching excellence.
